            <title>Become a Mambo Developer Today!</title>

            <description>
Become a Mambo Developer Today!
Contributing to Mambo is easy so whether you are an aspiring developer, tester, documenter, or Mambo enthusiast with some time to donate to Mambo there are many ways in which you can help. Getting started with contributing to Mambo is simple - just decide on what you want to do, and do it!
For more information about how you can contribute please read the Mambo Manual wiki. (http://mambo-manual.org/display/contrib/Home)
Developer Quick FAQ

  Q. Do I have to join the Mambo Foundation in order to contribute?
    A. No! This is a volunteer, free open source project and all contributions are welcome.
  Q. Do I have to join a team in order to contribute?
    A. Nope - see above. Mambo works in a similar way to Mozilla and other successful projects - if you want to contribute all you need to do is submit code. Of course, if you have the time for an ongoing commitment then you are likely to get a tap on the shoulder and asked if you want greater responsibilities and would like to join the team.
  Q. Do I need to sign a contributor agreement of any kind?
    A. If you submit code that is to be included into Mambo you need to sign the Mambo Contributor Agreement (http://mambo-manual.org/display/contrib/Mambo+Contributor+Agreement). Mambo is like most other open source projects in this respect.
  Q. Does the Mambo Contributor Agreement take away any of my rights to my code?
    A. No. By signing the MCA, you effectively share your copyright with Mambo. The Mambo Foundation owns the copyright of all the code in Mambo and you retain your copyright to your own code and can use your own code in any way you wish.
  Q. I heard a rumour that Mambo is controlled by a company and that it is taking the code commercial. Is this true?
    A. Back in 2005, at the time of the Joomla fork, the Mambo copyright and trademarks were owned by a company called Miro International Pty Ltd. That company transferred all rights in the code, and the trademarks, to the non-profit Mambo Foundation so Mambo would always be free, open source. Given that all this was underway at the time of the Joomla! fork it is unlikely that Miro had plans to make Mambo commercial.
Mambo sites continued to be hosted by its former corporate sponsor until mid-2006 at which time the Foundation and project became completely free of any corporate interests and moved off the mamboserver.com domain. Mambo has been 100% community-controlled ever since. The Mambo Foundation is governed by a Board that is elected every year from the community and has a responsibility to ensure that Mambo remains free open source software.

  Q. So, how do I get started?
    A. Read the information on the Mambo Manual wiki and decide what you want to do to contribute to making Mambo the best free, open source CMS on the planet. Read here on how to contribute code: http://mambo-manual.org/display/contrib/Contributing+to+Mambo+Code (http://mambo-manual.org/display/contrib/Contributing+to+Mambo+Code)
  Q. How do I communicate with other developers?
    A. The main channels for developer communication are the developer mailing list (http://mambo-developer.org/content/view/169/30/) and the IRC channel (network: irc.freenode.net, channel: #mambo-cms).

            <title>Mambo releases one-step upgrade from 4.6.2 to 4.6.5</title>
            <link>http://mambo-developer.org/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=171&amp;Itemid=3</link>
            <description>Team Mambo Releases One-Step Upgrade from 4.6.2 to 4.6.5
This new Mambo 4.6.2 to 4.6.5 patch means you have only one upgrade to do to bring your site from Mambo 4.6.2 up to the latest stable release, which is Mambo 4.6.5.
It also means that anyone upgrading from Mambo 4.5, has only two upgrades to do to get to Mambo 4.6.5. There are no database changes between Mambo 4.5.2 and Mambo 4.5.5/4.5.6 so you just need to use the Mambo 4.5.5 to Mambo 4.6.2 upgrade patch to take your site to Mambo 4.6.2. Then apply this latest patch release and voila! Your site will be using the latest version of Mambo.
Read the full announcement on the Mambo News site here (http://mambo-news.org/content/view/191/34/).
You can download the patch files on our code forge here. (http://mambo-code.org/gf/project/mambo/frs/)

Using the List

This is a public list for developer discussion only. Support questions should be asked on the forums. (http://forum.mambo-foundation.org/)
Keep in mind that bug reports and feature requests should be submitted using the Mambo tracker (http://mambo-developer.org/tracker/).
Potential security vulnerabilities should not be posted to the list. Please submit reports to security@mambo-foundation.org (mailto:security@mambo-foundation.org)
Messages should be short and to the point. Never spend four paragraphs explaining what can be done in two sentences.
When asking questions make sure to check the archives (http://mambo-developer.org/pipermail/developer_mambo-developer.org/) and documentation (http://mambo-support.org/) before posting to the list, failure to do so may result in the message being ignored.
Do not bring up old discussions unless there is new vitally important information. Extra opinions do not matter, facts and proof matter.
Messages should only be replied to when there is important information to add. Only quote the key points when replying to the list, everyone else will have the previous message and can look it up for more information. All quoted material should be recognisable, by starting the line with one &amp;gt; for each level of quoting. Do not quote signatures or entire messages. The new message should come after the quote.
All messages should be in plain text, HTML mail or other weird formats will annoy several important people on the list.
All messages to the list should be in English. English may not be the native language of most people - try to use proper spelling and grammar, but most mistakes will be forgiven. Punctuation and proper capitalization is a must, failure to do this will not be forgiven.
Be polite - personal attacks and arguments will not be tolerated.
Keep signatures to a minimum. Any message that has a signature longer than the message body will be frowned upon.
  Stay on topic!

<title>Welcome to the new Mambo Developer site</title>
            <link>http://mambo-developer.org/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=168&amp;Itemid=2</link>
<description>Welcome to the new Mambo Developer site.
The launch of the new Mambo Developer site marks a turning point in Mambo's history. For the first time, we have a site devoted to developing for and with Mambo. And all developer information is under one roof with the Mambo API, tracker, and SVN all part of this site. You will see links to these in the menu to the right. In time, as this site builds, we expect it to become the central repository of information for developers. The site, combined with the developer forums (http://forum.mambo-foundation.org/forumdisplay.php?f=152) and the new 3PD Development forum (http://forum.mambo-foundation.org/forumdisplay.php?f=231) brings a stronger focus to the development of Mambo as well as providing a means for greater interaction between the Mambo team and 3rd party developers.
The Source has been retired. The news and announcements that were formally on The Source have been split between this site and the new Mambo News portal (http://mambo-news.org/), depending on what the focus of that content was. The only content that does not appear in any of our new sites are the old download pages. We hope you don't miss them too much!
If you have arrived here after clicking on the link to Mambo Services you will be wondering why you are here. We have a new site coming soon that will be offering professional services for Mambo. These are services that are offered by third parties who provide services for Mambo such as custom development work, training, consultancy and the like. If you or your company offer services such as these please let us know (mailto:info@mambo-foundation.org). Send an overview of what you offer, including a link to your site, and we will get back to you.
We hope you like these changes and welcome your feedback on the forums (http://forum.mambo-foundation.org/forumdisplay.php?f=143). </description>
